[ these heels make a different kind of click on the roof than the boots he usually favors, when he, too, drifts down to land. The wings aren't there anymore-- yet, but he's quick to playfully wave the little cup he'd saved of lemon pudding. ]
I seem to recall I saved this for some reason to do with you~. Now you're all done down there? Ready for the skies?
[ but the real noob move would be letting that stop him. in typically flirtatious fashion, without breaking eye contact he puts the cup to his mouth and licks some out with an uneccessary amount of, uh, flourish.

[does he need a spoon from downst— oh, nope. no he does not.
half-shifted as muffin is, instead of just goosebumps or a blush, all the feathers on his shoulders sloooowly POOF up. his tail is an amazed bottlebrush.]
[ awesome, actually, because that means Muffin's distracted with being flustered as Quetzal starts going through the ungainly, experimental steps of first takeoff. This really takes a lot more strenuous force than literally anyone ever makes it look--
He makes it, like, a little up, but loses his air again shortly with a wobbly landing saved from being a fall only by his poor, hard working invisible tail. Woah. That is.
Way. Way tougher than it looks, and way different from what he does to fly. ]
[Muffin zips away, but he quickly noticed he’s alone in the air and doubles back— a backwing, a roll sideways through the air, another swoop, and few quick flaps to land neatly on the roof. Here he is, the gryphon making it look easier than it is. Here’s where pecs are paying off.
[hops around him, reaching out to pet and soothe his feathers]
Um, um. Some birds don’t have the wings for standing starts. They run to get speed or they jump off stuff. Think um… Maybe if you use your normal way to get up higher? Then can drop into glide.
[ he gives his wings one cursory flap, this time, before raising absent their efforts-- though he stretches them with a gaze full of intrigue, as he does his usual subtle fine manipulations of the combined Aero/Float spells. These DO make it easier to get lift, when he spreads them wide... ]
This is even easier, magically. There's the extra weight to account for, but the feathers are quite cooperative with the way I do my spells... takes less aim to get the lift.

Out of curiosity.

Lift is what wings are made for! Have never seen someone hover without having to flap. Looks cool.
